Old Style Drive-In Shows Are Wonderful

Drive-in movies are wonderful family fun. The experience is so unique. I love it in the summer especially because it makes for a great time under the stars.

Drive-in movies are cheaper to attend than conventional theaters. One thing that I love is the fact that they offer double features. Most drive-ins show double features, and it can really help stretch a buck. A double feature, in case you don’t know, means that you can watch two movies at the show rather than one.

You can either watch the movie from the comfort of your car or truck, or bring the folding chairs or quilts and sit outside under the stars to enjoy the evening entertainment. If you are lucky enough to live close to an old-fashioned drive-in theater, then you are fortunate because they are a dying breed.

Most drive-ins today allow you to listen to the sound over the radio, so do not forget to bring your portable radio if you sit outside. It is great to be able to talk through the movie without being shushed.

For many people, taking in a drive-in movie takes them back to their youth. It is great to enjoy with family or a date.

I like to bring my own snacks. The concession can cost a lot to feed a car load of people, but if you feel lazy or just like fresh popcorn, it can be a scrumptious treat. Snacks make the show fun, however try to get them before the show starts.

Nostalgia is what most drive-in movie lovers are hoping to experience. As a teenager, it was definitely the place to go with a date. With modern multiplex movie theatres dominating the landscape, it is a shame that the drive-in is becoming less common.

Overall, don’t miss out on the drive-in experience. It is worth the price of admission, whether it is family or a date. You’ll be glad you went!
