Cleaning your automobile not only makes for a sharp looking vehicle, it makes you feel good as well. Auto detailing is almost self-explanatory. It refers to paying attention to detail while cleaning your car. This applies to the inside of the car as well as the outside. Keeping the passenger compartment spic and span provides an aesthetic comfort that leads to an enjoyable drive. Just like in your home, take a vacuum and sweep up the upholstery on the seats and floors as well as the mats. Any stains that may have found their way onto the carpeting can be removed using regular carpet cleaner. If something sticky has spilled into the cup holders, simply use kitchen or bathroom cleaners appropriately and bring the holders back to their original state. The glass cleaner you use on your house’s windows can be applied to auto glass as well. Take some sponges, rags, and paper towels out to the vehicle and clean it much like you would your home. Stay on top of keeping the interior clean so you don’t have a huge mess the next time you detail the automobile’s passenger compartment.
Of course, you have to detail the exterior of your car if you want it looking sharp. Washing and waxing it keeps salt, grime, and water off of the surfaces and keeps those substances from doing damage. You can probably get away with waxing twice a year, but feel free to use a rubbing compound or glossy spray now and then to really add a sheen to the paint job. Fill in any paint chips with touch up paint. Not only does it make the car look better, it protects against rust spots. Use wheel cleaner to wipe off dirt and brake dust to keep the rims shiny. Make sure the cleaner is safe for your particular wheels.
The engine compartment is another place in which to perform auto detailing. Keep electronic components under cover and apply a good engine degreaser to the engine bay. Let it work its way into the dirt for a bit and then spray it off with a hose. The engine and all of your hoses will glisten like new. After you are finished, apply something like Vaseline to rubber hoses and components to keep them from drying and cracking. Cleaning your vehicle thoroughly from the inside out is all it takes to complete auto detailing. Taking pride in your car shows you take pride in other aspects of your life.
